WHAT IS IT?

The Concept

The Role-playing game genre has taken many forms, and amongst several roleplaying communities has evolved into things that’d change the way many would see it. However, we plan on taking that a step further. The traditional RPG experience of character creation and development is getting a twist in our projects. From a fully customizable spell creation system (so that no two characters may be alike), to an RTS game mode that dares to give birth to an entirely new genre of gaming.

This project is intended to become an RPG-RTS hybrid on a large multiplayer scale by introducing both Champion and Syndicate Modes.

Champion Mode

As with most RPG games, the player is provided the opportunity to create their own character, develop their own backstory and grow stronger through their playtime. Features such as a True Death Phoenix System and Real-Time Based Aging mean that not only do the characters age in-game, but also permanently die. This means no one character nor group will ever monopolize the world forever. History will show the rise and fall of powerful entities.

For RP-based gameplay (on future intended RP servers), a Roleplay Level (or RPL) will dictate the growth and capacity of a player’s progress with their respective character. Through the utilization of an ‘Emote’ option, and interaction with other players (or by the player’s lonesome), the player will roleplay the ‘role’ and happenings of their character and their experiences in response to the environment around them. This is to be overlooked by an unbiased neutral party administering over the server, whom would be tasked with rating their posts (after the examined player reaches a predetermined threshold) based on the content, quality and quantity. After the posts have been rated, the player is rewarded with Roleplay Points (RPPs), which can be distributed towards raising their Combat Level or their Charisma Level at the player’s discretion.

Opting to raise a character’s Combat Level bestows the player with Stat Points to distribute amongst their 6 combat-based stats. Otherwise, the player can raise their character’s charisma level, which allows them to recruit Followers in their travels. The higher the level, the cheaper wares may be to buy when interacting with Blacksmith NPCs and the easier it is to recruit followers.

Syndicate Mode

Taking inspiration from RTS game types, the player is offered not a single character but a starter group of no less than 10 Pawns. Each pawn’s stats are equal to that of a newly made Champion Mode character. They are given the opportunity to explore the world around them, use their numbers to expand their influence of territory, exploit the environment using resources available and exterminate anything that threatens them or their endeavors. Much like a Champion Mode player’s character has vitality, a Syndicate has Population and Influence.

A syndicate can passively (or actively) grow their population over time, however, to keep control over their numbers, they must manage over their Influence. They can dedicate four different pawns to different roles: Governmental Role, Construction Role, Economy Role and Military Role.

For RP-based gameplay (on future intended RP servers), the RPL will dictate growth and capacity of the player’s syndicate. Emotes and roleplays can be achieved through Character Hopping amongst pawns, or using Area Emote. RPPs earned can be distributed towards raising their Influence Level or their Science Level at their own discretion.

Opting to raise the syndicate’s Influence Level enables them to grow their population larger without risking a Radicalization or Rebellion event occurring within their population. Otherwise, the player can raise their Science Level which enables them to unlock new upgrades and advancements with their Science Points.
